So that is my 2 pence, and something to consider. However I've heard there are issues with some Fire TV models. So if you have a streaming device that runs Android (such as the Mi Box or Fire TV) you can just install the app on there. I like the Raspberry Pi, especially since I can use it for other things. Basically you just have to install the OS on to an SD card and then install the Steam Link application. Some solutions can become dodgy fast, especially as software is updated, or you realize you need another cable or adapter. In my experience, I have been able to stream fine to an Android box that I have, but I would prefer my Link or my Pi. Use what you want out of it as a driving factor. Maybe that is an Android Box, maybe it is the Fire TV that you have already been looking at, maybe it is the Pi or a used Link. Honestly, I would consider what ever your purchase decision is as an investment, and decided which investment will give you the best value and return. You don't really need a case, but most people feel better with one. I have a few Type-C power cables and bricks from phones, so if you do too, just grab one of them. And yes, you can shell out a lot of money on peripherals, but if you get a Pi 4, you can get away with just the hdmi adapter and the power brick, which you might already have. In fact, I believe you can run retro emulation, Kodi for media playing, and the Steam Link app all in one and have the best of all worlds, if you really want to. If you decide you aren't using it as a Link anymore, then you can use it for other things. The Steam Link app is free and available for all major devices and platforms. I am still a huge fan of the Pi because you can do so much with it. I have used the dedicated Steam Link, Android boxes, Android phones, and the Raspberry Pi. I recommend starting streams through Big Picture Mode. The next time you stream a game to your tablet, the Touch Controls will appear on your tablet's screen. But if you also want to use the box for media streaming and potential emulation, that is another. To use it, open the Steam client on your tablet (client computer) -> press Steam on the menu bar -> Settings -> Remote Play -> Advanced Client options -> check mark Enable Touch Controls. So here is my question for you, what exactly do you want to do with this? If you are just wanting to stream games, that is one thing. However, Im not sure if this represents any pros (or cons) compared to an Android TV box with the Steam Link app, so I dont know which one should I get.
